Controlling an awning and patio heating using a hand-held controller

In early summer the patio can often only be used until late in the afternoon – after this it is generally too cool to sit outdoors. The time spent outside can be prolonged considerably, however, if an awning is combined with a patio heating system: A radiant heater provides warmth, while the awning prevents this from escaping upwards. elero has now developed a solution which not just allows for motorized sun protection using a hand-held transmitter, but also for the patio heating to be controlled using the same device.

Radio receiver for radiant heaters
The Combio-868 HE is a radio receiver which can be connected to a radiant heater with a power output of as much as 1.5 kW. This can then be controlled using the hand-held transmitter VarioTel Plus from elero, for example. Depending on requirements the user can switch on the radiant heater at the touch of a button – with either 100 % or 66 % power output. If this additional warmth is no longer needed, the “Stop” button on the hand-held transmitter can be used to turn off the heater. The Combio-868 HE is supplied with Hirschmann connectors. Available as an accessory are a 6.5 metre power lead with a safety plug and Hirschmann cable socket STAK 3. This cable set also includes a Hirschmann cable plug STAS 3 to connect the heater.

One hand-held transmitter – two receivers
As hand-held transmitters from elero such as the VarioTel Plus, for example, have several channels, it is possible to operate both the sun protection system as well as the radiant heater using one device if desired – provided that the awning is also automated using radio technology. In this case a 3-button control is enough to switch off the patio heating and then extend the awning following a change of channel.
