At the beginning of December the international elero family was able to welcome a new addition. Rainer Kunz, the managing director of elero, congratulated Michael Powell on the opening of the new Australian subsidiary in Peakhurst near Sydney. With over 2,500 hours of sunshine a year, Australia is an ideal area for the use of automated sun protection, thus offering excellent sales opportunities for elero drives and controls.

Radio technology Made in Germany
Mr. Powell expects the biggest demand to be for radio technology products: “Retrofitting – the automation of existing sun protection systems – is very common in Australia. This is particularly simple with radio technology drives and controls, as no control cables have to be installed.” elero products are used for the automation of interior roller blinds, roman shades, pleated blinds, awnings and exterior sun screens. Outdoor sun protection systems such as venetian blind/louvres are not as widespread in Australia, although Mr. Powell believes that these types of products will become more popular in the future thanks to their heat protection qualities.

A further Australian idiosyncrasy is the demand for sun/wind sensors. Unlike Germany, where strong gusts of wind often accompany cloudy weather, in Australia a sunny day can often be combined with strong wind. Here a sensor such as the Aero-915 – is required to make the most of the shading qualities of the end product while also protecting it from damage. The 915 range of radio technology products is well suited to the current trend in Australia towards wireless solutions for both retrofitting and new installations.

Compatible with Australian building automation
Mr. Powell sees a further benefit of elero products in their ease of integration into bus systems. Many Australian business and residential properties are equipped with building automation, something which opens up a wide range of applications for the flexible controls from elero.
