There is scarcely a modern office building nowadays without a glass façade. Such buildings usually have spacious room concepts – so as to make the most of such an architectural style. Both place major demands on the building technology that is used: Given the heat-conducting properties of glass façades, automated sun protection is indispensable. At the same time the shading has to meet the individual needs of numerous room occupants. elero has developed the VarioTel Plus 10 for this special situation. With the 10+1 channel hand-held transmitter as many as ten receivers can be individually controlled for drive units with roller shutters, venetian blinds and awnings.

All-round talent to meet every need
The VarioTel Plus 10 can be combined with the sun/wind sensor Aero-868 for automatic operation. In this case, a slider switch is used to change from manual to automatic operation. Moreover, individual control of the sun protection in the various different areas of an open-plan office can be implemented using the VarioTel Plus 10. For this, the “Select” button is used to choose the channel: If one of channels one to five is activated, the LED next to the respective field is green. Channels six to ten are indicated using a red signal. By pressing the “Select” button again the central command is activated and all the LEDs are now orange. When cleaning work is to be carried out for instance, this central command is used to retract simultaneously all the blinds. Programming of the drive units is very straightforward with the programming switch “P” concealed under the text panel.

Control of light and shade using a secure radio frequency
The VarioTel Plus 10 can be used not only with roller shutters, venetian blinds and awnings, but also for light control. Thanks to the flexible group hand-held transmitter it is possible in this case to adapt the entire lighting to individual requirements – from every location in the room. The necessary signals are transmitted by the VarioTel Plus 10 at 868 MHz, the same frequency for all the wireless ProLine components. Given the extremely short duration of these radio signals, this frequency is particularly interference-free. The reliable control unit therefore ensures that all the employees enjoy the best possible working conditions – despite a glass façade and an open-plan office.
