Power-operated gates and doors are convenient, yet also pose risks, but risks are now to be a thing of the past. From May onwards a new product standard – EN 13241-1 – lays down the requirements for the problem-free usage and production safety of gates throughout Europe. Not only are trading, installation, commissioning and production being harmonised and safeguarded, the prevention of potential risks, such as persons or objects being entrapped in power-driven gates, is also being given a statutory status. With its wide range of drive units for gates and doors elero already complies with the toughest safety requirements.
Individual solutions for every drive unit
In the case of roller grilles operated with alternating current SafeControl has a door-edge security system as an entrapment protection system. Furthermore, the light barrier system on the upper end of the gate safeguards against entanglement. The light barriers are tested using brief deactivation prior to a gate being closed. This function test takes no more than a few milliseconds and removes the possibility of a defective light barrier ensuring problem-free opening and closing.
DoorControl uses the same protective devices and simple radio installation to ensure the greatest-possible safety with rolling doors. Both DoorControl and SafeControl automatically close gates and barriers using a traffic light function. In underground parking facilities SafeControl’s two-way control unit guarantees the smooth flow of traffic.
In order to also minimise the potential risks with three-phase current drive units, elero has two further safety systems – BoxControl and MasterControl. Through the standardised production, testing and certification of controls and drive units for gates and doors elero offers its customers the greatest-possible security.
