elero founds first branch office in South America

Companies in the roller shutter and sun protection sector are increasingly being forced to develop their international business as well as the German market. elero has now opened a branch office in Uruguay to be able to provide South American customers with support from a local office. The manufacturer of drives and controls for roller shutters, sun protection systems and doors intends to develop the promising markets of Latin America from here.

Other countries, other forms of sun protection
Customer wishes in part differ considerably from the demands placed in Germany: “It is much more common for windows in South America to have interior venetian blinds and screens than in Europe. Here elero can offer automation solutions from one source.” explains Paul Riezler, head of the newly-founded branch office in the capital Montevideo. Outdoor venetian blinds and awnings tend to be used quite rarely in Brazil, Argentina and other South American countries – for this reason the market for drives and controls is smaller in this segment.

Growing market for roller shutters
In this respect elero is benefiting from another development: So as to keep indoor temperatures low despite the tropical heat, more and more home owners in South America are deploying roller shutters. In Uruguay for instance the market share for this form of sun protection has risen continually in recent years. “Here we see excellent opportunities for the drives in our new RevoLine series, which operate roller shutters extremely quietly and gently.” says Paul Riezler. Together with controls and sensors from elero it is possible to implement intelligent solutions with which the roller shutters can be automatically raised and lowered – for example in line with the weather conditions or the time when the sun sets and rises.
