It is not only modern high-tech glass buildings which require well thought-out sun protection systems, but also conventional industrial buildings and private residences, whereby the latter do not necessarily have to be connected to a complicated bus system. Modern building controls such as the ProLine Objecta from elero are able to cover a number of control requirements.
East and west in harmony
The use of roller shutters, Venetian blinds and awnings are not required on all sides of a building at the same time of day; also solar radiation varies greatly depending on the time of year. One weather sensor is not sufficient in this respect, as otherwise the Venetian blinds on the shady west side close on a morning simply because the sun sensor is pointing towards the east. In order to resolve this east-west conflict, the ProLine Objecta is fitted with four separate channels for the evaluation of weather data. In this respect the weather sensors may be combined depending upon requirements, e. g. four sun sensors with one wind sensor, or several wind sensors in exposed areas. Likewise a frost sensor may also be connected to prevent any possible damage to a frozen sun protection system. Additionally, rain sensors and room thermostats may also be connected.
Excellent atmosphere thanks to individual sun protection
Although a centrally controlled sun protection system ensures an optimised climate in a building itself, if technology dominates this can soon lead to a "bad atmosphere" for the inhabitants. For the need for daylight varies from individual to individual, as does their perception of when a room is warm enough. With building automation, therefore, it is necessary to ensure that the user may also open each Venetian blind, each roller shutter and each awning individually.
This is possible through a combination of the Objecta control with suitable end devices from elero – thus allowing for the individual operation of the sun protection system. At the same time there is a superordinate central control, which retracts awnings if the wind becomes too strong. A caretaker switch guarantees problem-free maintenance and cleaning work on the façade.
Modular, expandable construction
Depending on the local requirements, it is possible to create precise solutions with the control series ProLine from elero. Simple roller shutter and Venetian blind controls with wall-mounted or hand-held transmitters or clever timer switches may be amalgamated in groups across one floor for instance. The device groups for a façade are then controlled automatically via weather sensors. The system is flexible and may be expanded quite easily in the event of any conversion work or extensions to the building and it is possible with no great effort to create a sun protection system specially tailored to the building – even without a bus system.
